The 2015 earthquakes in Nepal necessitated immediate relief action, but also required longer term reconstruction and disaster prevention activities. To guide the mid-to-long term recovery efforts and ensure that reconstruction efforts are targeted at those communities and sectors in most need, in 2016 the UK Government’s Department for International Development’s (DFID) appointed a consortium, led by ICF, to assist the local governments in the three districts (Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading) prepare Post Earthquake Reconstruction Plans (PERPs).
The PERPs aim to provide a locally-owned five-year plan that provides guidance to local governments on their earthquake reconstruction and recovery needs and can be used to assist the preparation of annual plans and budgets as well as leveraging other financing for recovery needs. They have been prepared using an inclusive and participatory approach by applying the strategic planning process for reconstruction planning as prescribed by the National Reconstruction Authority, the National Planning Commission and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development. PERPs have been prepared for all 26 rural municipalities in these districts and approved by their councils. The PERPs’ Reconstruction and Recovery Assessment Reports provide information on the earthquake damage and reconstruction needs for the 26 rural and four urban municipalities in the three districts. These serve as a baseline for reconstruction and recovery activities. The PERPs also contain assessments of the financing requirements and gaps in each sector and municipality. The PERPs also contain priority interventions with preliminary information on each priority project.

To enhance the engagement of the PERP with the community a simple mobile application has been developed. This will enable the community (Locals, tourists, government personnel) to upload photographs of facilities i.e. hospitals, schools, housing, water supply (damaged, under repair, not damaged). This system can be used for identification of issues to various bodies, tracking of reconstruction progress and most importantly community feedback

4W (Who's doing What, Where and When) is a portal for displaying the activities of various organization after the earthquake. The information is only up to May 2016. See More |
